ACTIVITIES AND CLUBS

 

Unless otherwise noted, all clubs and activities require participants to maintain a minimum C- average.

 

 

Arts Club
Advisors:  Ms. de Haan, Mr. Fahey, Ms. Laux, and Mrs. Nelson
This club will offer a variety of hands on art experiences, including pottery, drawing, painting and printing.  Students will be able to design their own projects.
 
Badminton Club
Advisors:  Mr. Genovese, Mr. Lenn, Mr. Pomerleau, Mr. Slivinsky and Mr. Sullivan
The Badminton Club meets to learn the basics of and to play badminton.
 
Board Game Club
Advisors: Mrs. Behling and Mr. Soar
The Board Game Club meets weekly in the Library to play various board games.
 
Book Club
Advisors:  Ms. Janczak and Mrs. Nix
The Book Club meets regularly to discuss books they enjoy and readings they may do as a group.
 
CADD Club
Advisor:  Mr. Williams
The CADD club provides advanced drafting students with the opportunity to design independent research projects.
 
Chemistry Club
Advisors:  Mr. Pomerleau and Mr. Shultz
The Chemistry Club provides an opportunity for Advanced Placement Chemistry students to design and perform novel and sometimes offbeat chemical activities.  Chem club also sponsors an extensive outreach program to the local community.
 
‘Closeup” To Washington
Advisor: Mrs. Mazzone
This activity helps the students develop better understanding of our government. Selected members have the opportunity to go to Washington for a week-long experience studying American government.
 
Computer Competition Club 
Advisor: Mr. D. O'Connell
Students interested in computers and computer program enter interscholastic competitions.  This club provides practice and training for computer competition in programming II and I.
 
Electrathon
Advisor:  Mr. Eschenbrenner
With Enfield High School, the Electrathon Club is for students interested in learning more about the uses of electricity.
 
First "Buzz" Robotics Team
Advisor: Mr. Cote-DeCormier
The robotics team is composed of highly motivated students, teachers and professional engineers.  The team designs and builds a robot capable of performing complex tasks.  The team then travels with the robot to regional and national competitions, starting in March.  The project provides opportunities for students to develop skills in a broad range of engineering activities, while being mentored by professional engineers from Hamilton Sunstrand Space Systems International.
 
Frisbee Club
Advisors:  Mr. Mourad
The game of frisbee will be played and enjoyed by anyone interested.
 
Fermi Fitness Club 
Advisors:  Mrs. Morreale and Mrs. Pellin
The Fermi Fitness Club meets regularly to work out using a variety of exercise routines
 
Graphics Club
Advisor:  Ms. Gauthier
Students in Graphics I, II and III classes work to complete school related projects.
 
International Club
Advisors:  Mr. Becker, Mrs. Fay and Mrs. Merritt
The International Club offers a variety of activities through which students will experience different cultures through music, dance, food, discussions, games, speakers and celebrations.
 
Jazz Ensemble
Advisor:  Mr. Reppucci
Geared toward students with previous instrumental experience and a desire to play, train, and improvise jazz styles.
 
The Latin Club
Advisor:  Ms. Hildahl
The Latin Club members may build vehicles or catapults, practice for athletic or academic events for competition on the Connecticut State Latin Day.  All members of The Latin Club make their own togas to be worn on State Latin Day.
 
Names Can Really Hurt Us Program
Advisors:  Mr. Repucci, Mrs. Somma and Mr. Zenczak
Is a full day in-school program for sophomores to focus on the problems that arise if we treat one another in a harmful manner.
 
Mathletes
Advisor: Mrs. Kane
Mathletes participate in math competitions testing a wide variety of topics, from functions to trigonometry.
 
Physics Club
Advisor:  Mr. Mourad
Members of the Physics Club design and construct physics demonstrations, experimental apparatus and computer based labs. They will be using equipment including lasers and computers.
 
Relay for Life
Advisor:  Mr. Dube

Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

 
Ski Club
Advisors:  Mr. Gaffney, Mrs. Kennedy, and Mr. Shultz
The ski club is designed to provide skiing and snowboarding opportunities for students with a wide range of abilities.  The club provides lessons ranging from beginner to expert ability levels.  The ski package includes bus transportation and lift tickets.  It can also include ski or snowboard rentals and lessons.  There are five trips starting in early January.
 
Student Bowling League
Advisor:  Mr. Olschafskie
Open to all students, male and female, the Student Bowling League is a handicap league.  Experienced and inexperienced bowlers are welcome.  Trophies are awarded to members of the winning team and for individuals with the highest average, triple and game.
 
Talent Show
Advisors:  Mrs. Asselin, Mr. Dube, Mr. Kelleher and Mr. Sweeney
The Talent show is presented annually, giving Fermi students a chance to showcase their various performing talents. 
 
Technology Club
Advisor:  Mr. Chaves
Woodworking, Plastics, and Metalworking in a exploratory problem solving environment.
 
Tennis Club
Advisors:  Mrs. Crawford and Mr. Genovese
The game of tennis will be played and enjoyed by anyone interested.
 
Traces (Fermi’s Yearbook)
Advisors:  Ms. Joeckel
Students working on the yearbook assist in the planning, production and sales of Traces, Enrico Fermi High School’s yearbook.
 
Unified Sports
Advisors: Mrs. Cressotti, Mrs. Drzyzga, Mr. Duffy, Mrs. Nord, Mrs. Pickering
A program designed to join students with handicaps with their non-disabled peers on sports teams for training and competition.
 
Video Game Club
Advisor:  Mr. Cote-DeCormier
The Video Game Club is a social club where students of all backgrounds and social circles can come together and play video games.
 
Weight Training
Advisor:  Mr. Mazzone
The weight-training club will give interested students the opportunity to lift weights while learning proper techniques for weight training.
 
Whiffle Ball Club
Advisors:  Mr. Dube and Mrs. Gowen
The game of whiffle ball will be played and enjoyed by anyone interested.
